Media Release: Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative Film Class with Tony Dunne

ATTENTION BUDDING FILMMAKERS:
Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative Offers Introductory Film Production Course at Berkshire Community College

The Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative (BFMC) is pleased to present a non-credit workshop, FILM PRODUCTION 1, in partnership with Berkshire Community College at BCC’s Main Campus in Pittsfield, MA. The course will meet for 8-sessions on Wednesdays, from 6:30pm-8:30pm, beginning February 7th.

This introduction to film and video production provides a foundation in the principles, techniques and equipment involved in production. Students will write, produce, direct, and edit individual projects. On completing this course, students will understand the basics of scripting, camera operation, direction, lighting, sound, and non-linear editing. They will achieve proficiency in camera operation including framing, exposure, focus and movement as well as demonstrate competency in non-linear editing software. The instructor for the course is Emmy nominated, award-winning producer, editor and videographer Tony Dunne. Dunne has spent almost 20 years working in both commercial and public television honing his storytelling skills, and has produced magazine programs, quiz shows, live nightly newscasts, and political and public affairs programming. An accomplished documentarian, his credits include Music Alone Shall Live: 35 Years of the Iron Horse and the acclaimed Things That Go Bump in the Night: Tales of Haunted New England, which aired on PBS stations nationwide. Tony is currently the Executive Producer of WGBY’s news-magazine program Connecting Point, and the long-running high school quiz show As Schools Match Wits. Outside of his work at WGBY, Dunne is an accomplished independent producer and the co-creator of the Emmy-nominated independent series New England Legends.

BFMC is a creative economic engine that supports production and workforce development in Western Massachusetts. BFMC develops educational and workforce enrichment courses, offers networking events for industry professionals, acts as a resource for visiting productions, creates jobs within our communities in the film industry and provides an on-line production guide and locations database as a resource for filmmakers.
