Media Release: Kevin Rhodes Returns to Vienna State Opera Ballet

KEVIN RHODES RETURNS TO VIENNA STATE OPERA BALLET FOR FOUR PROGRAMS BEGINNING IN MARCH

The Massachusetts-based American conductor Kevin Rhodes will return to the Vienna State Opera Ballet for his 23rd season beginning in March. He will conduct four separate ballet programs during the Vienna State Opera Ballet’s 2017-18 Spring Season. Maestro Rhodes conducted The Stuttgart Ballet’s production of the classic Swan Lake last December, and serves as Music Director and Conductor of The Springfield Symphony Orchestra in MA; Traverse Symphony Orchestra in MI, and as Principal Conductor of Boston’s Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.

On April 16, May 3 and 5, Maestro Rhodes conducts a program that includes two ballets by New York City ballet legend, George Balanchine: Theme and Variations with music by Tchaikovsky and the Stravinsky Violin Concerto. The program also includes John Neumeier’s Bach Suite III, and Jerome Robbins’ comic ballet The Concert, with  music by Chopin. Maestro Rhodes conducts The Vienna State Opera Ballet’s program of British choreography, which includes Conerto, with choreography by Kenneth MacMillan to music by Shostakovich; Eayne McGregor’s Eden with music by Steve Reich, and Frederick Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand, choreographed for Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn to the music of Lizst. Media Release: Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative Film Class with Tony Dunne

Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative Offers Introductory Film Production Course at Berkshire Community College

The Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative (BFMC) is pleased to present a non-credit workshop, FILM PRODUCTION 1, in partnership with Berkshire Community College at BCC’s Main Campus in Pittsfield, MA. The course will meet for 8-sessions on Wednesdays, from 6:30pm-8:30pm, beginning February 7th.

This introduction to film and video production provides a foundation in the principles, techniques and equipment involved in production. Students will write, produce, direct, and edit individual projects. On completing this course, students will understand the basics of scripting, camera operation, direction, lighting, sound, and non-linear editing. They will achieve proficiency in camera operation including framing, exposure, focus and movement as well as demonstrate competency in non-linear editing software. The instructor for the course is Emmy nominated, award-winning producer, editor and videographer Tony Dunne. Dunne has spent almost 20 years working in both commercial and public television honing his storytelling skills, and has produced magazine programs, quiz shows, live nightly newscasts, and political and public affairs programming. An accomplished documentarian, his credits include Music Alone Shall Live: 35 Years of the Iron Horse and the acclaimed Things That Go Bump in the Night: Tales of Haunted New England, which aired on PBS stations nationwide. Tony is currently the Executive Producer of WGBY’s news-magazine program Connecting Point, and the long-running high school quiz show As Schools Match Wits. Outside of his work at WGBY, Dunne is an accomplished independent producer and the co-creator of the Emmy-nominated independent series New England Legends.

BFMC is a creative economic engine that supports production and workforce development in Western Massachusetts.
