Media Release: Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative's Posh Picnic

BERKSHIRE FILM AND MEDIA COLLABORATIVE PRESENTS
3rd Annual “POSH PICNIC AT TANGLEWOOD”
A FUNDRAISER FOR BFMC’S EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES
ON SUNDAY, JULY 24th

The Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative (BFMC) presents its third annual Posh Picnic at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA on Sunday, July 24th from 12:00 noon – 2:30pm. This unique event raises funds for BFMC’s educational initiatives, which include workforce development courses and college workshops that teach the skills necessary to work in the film industry. As Executive Director Diane Pearlman explains, “In order to grow our industry in western Massachusetts, we need to have a trained workforce. As more productions come to the region, we want them to hire people in our local community. Creating these jobs helps to support the creative economy of our region.”

The Posh Picnic at Tanglewood includes a delicious gourmet catered picnic lunch on the lawn, an eclectic silent auction, and Shed seating for the matinee performance of The Boston Symphony Orchestra with Juanjo Mena conducting Ginastera, Mozart and Beethoven featuring Veronica Eberle, violin.  Special thanks to BFMC’s major sponsor, Tanglewood, for hosting and catering the event. A Bloody Mary bar will feature vodka from sponsor, Berkshire Mountain Distillers.  The picnic is also being sponsored by Vitec Videocom provider of premium branded products and services to the Broadcast and Photographic markets.

This year, the Posh Picnic at Tanglewood will honor award winning actor, director and writer, Karen Allen.  A Berkshire resident and BFMC Advisory Board member, Allen’s film credits include: Animal House, Star Man, the Indiana Jones Films, The Sandlot, The Perfect Storm, and most recently, A Year By the Sea. Allen is also directing her first short film in the Berkshires this spring based on the Carson McCullers’ short story, “A Tree A Rock A Cloud.” The production has cast many local actors and is using many local professionals on the crew.  BFMC is proud to honor Karen Allen’s achievements and her commitment to the film and media industry in western Massachusetts.

Tickets for the Posh Picnic at Tanglewood, priced at $140.00 per person, are available through the Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative. For details: call 413-528.4223 or visit www.berkshirefilm.org
