WALTER MOORE, VICE-PRESIDENT OF FEDERAL AFFAIRS FOR THE AMERICAN CHEMISTRY COUNCIL, TO DELIVER SUFFIELD ACADEMY’S 181st COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS ON FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2014
Suffield, Connecticut: Walter Moore, Vice President of Federal Affairs for the American Chemistry Council, will offer the keynote Commencement Address at Suffield Academy’s 181st Commencement on the Suffield Academy campus on Friday, May 23, 2013. The Academy’s 120 seniors are expected to receive their diplomas during Commencement 2014.
As Vice President of Federal Affairs of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Moore is responsible for helping to shape and guide the association’s federal legislative priorities. His responsibilities include oversight of direct lobbying activities, industry coalitions, and AmeriChem PAC, the ACC’s political action committee. Prior to joining ACC, Mr. Moore served a total of sixteen years as Senior Director then Vice President of Government Affairs of Genentech, a global leader in the field of biotechnology. Previously, Mr. Moore held positions at Eli Lilly and Company as Manager of Government Relations, and Pfizer, Inc. as Director of Congressional Relations. In addition to his corporate experience, he holds significant association and political experience including the American Hospital Association, the Federal Election Commission, and the office of Sen. Lloyd Bentsen.
Mr. Moore has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a master's of public administration from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
Walter Moore’s wife, Patricia Q. Moore, serves on the Board of Trustees of Suffield Academy. They are the parents of Tod '09 and Harrison '14. The Moore family lives in McLean, VA.
Suffield Headmaster Charles Cahn III will preside over Commencement ceremonies. Daniel Tisch, President of the Suffield Academy Board of Trustees, and Headmaster Cahn will present diplomas and prizes to graduating seniors, who will head to eighty different colleges and universities next fall.
In reference to this graduating class, Headmaster Cahn comments: “This cohesive group of students has shown great commitment to each other and to the school. The young men and women in the graduating class have truly supported one another on their journey while at Suffield and I know they will continue to do so after they graduate."
