Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative presents the first ever film and media Expo in Western Massachusetts on Friday, October 24 at Baystate Health’s Conference Center  in Holyoke, MA. Headliner is award-winning director and special effects guru Douglas Trumbull..  http://www.berkshirefilm.com/  

The Big Broadcast, The Jazz Ensembles at Mount Holyoke College’s annual recreation of a live 1940s radio broadcast, celebrates its 10th anniversary on March 8, 2015. Music Director Mark Gionfriddo will recreate some of the showstoppers from “Big Broadcast” performances of previous years. New website coming this fall.

Chamber Music Plus joins our client roster. The Arizona-based chamber music and theatre group, formerly based in Hartford, has presented a unique blend of theatre performances with chamber music, and chamber music performances with theatre, all written by playwright Harry Clark. Kurn Hattin Homes for Children hosts its 23rd annual Conference “What About The Kids ? Substance Use Treatment and Recovery in Families” Development Conference on Friday, October 24.  They also host a Financial Planners Symposium, “Financial Planning: The Road Ahead” on November 14. Suffield Academy, Suffield, CT. hosts its annual Fall Open House on Saturday, October 25. Prospective students and their parents will get campus tours, an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and students. Reservations required.  www.suffieldacademy.org.

Victor Acquista MD, author of “Pathways To Health: An Integral Guidebook”, will give a series of Integral Health workshops in Copenhagen on January 30-February 1, 2015. . Mark On-Air. I’ will be talking about the Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative’s Western Massachusetts Film Exchange on 89.5FM/WSKB on THU October 16 at 8AM on Westfield News’ community radio program, and onThom Fox’s “The Engine: Entrepreneur Radio” Show on Saturday, October 18 on 560-AM/WHYN at 10AM.

Mark on the Podium: I will present my introducton to public relations workshp, “PR 101” for Brenda Garton’s Communications class at Western New England University on Monday, October 6. I will be the featured speaker at the Hartford Springfield Speakers Network on Saturday, November 1. I’ll be doing a presentation on how to brand yourself as an expert, author, and go-to resource. http://hartfordspringfieldspeakers.com/

WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS FILM AND MEDIA EXCHANGE

Friday, October 24, 2014 from 10:00AM to 6:00PM
Hosted by Baystate Health
Baystate Health Whitney Avenue Conference Center
361 Whitney Avenue, Holyoke, MA.

A day long series of workshps, seminars, demonstrations and networking opportunities for Western Massachusetts film and video professionals, businesses who use film and video in their marketing efforts, and other creative industries professionals. 

Douglas Trumbull, the American film director and visual effects pioneer is the keynote speaker. Trumbull has worked on such movie classics and has been associated with “2001: A Space Odyssey”, “Close Encounters of The Third Kind”, “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, Blade Runner” and “Silent Running”. He’s been a resident of Western Massachusetts for almost two decades, and he has started several film-related innovation  companies in the region.

The Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative (BFMC) is a creative economic engine that supports production and workforce development in Western Massachusetts. BFMC develops educational and workforce enrichment courses, offers networking events for industry professionals, acts as a resource for visiting productions, creates jobs within our communities in the film industry and provides an on- line production guide and locations database as a resource for filmmakers. BFMC was formed in 2009, and is a fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
